A Vision for Economic Stability and Youth Empowerment
Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, the Minister of State for Finance, has emphasized that President Bola Tinubu is working on long-term economic strategies to stabilize Nigeria and ensure shared prosperity, despite the current challenges faced by many citizens. Her comments were made during an event hosted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth League in Abuja, where she highlighted the administration’s focus on addressing years of fiscal imbalances and restoring investor confidence.
“Our administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is building the foundation for sustainable growth, stability, and shared prosperity,” she stated.
This message comes at a time when public frustration is high due to several economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidies, the floating of the naira, and rising inflation, all of which have increased the cost of living across the country. However, the government continues to argue that these measures are essential to prevent economic collapse and attract long-term investment.
Uzoka-Anite defended the policy direction, calling the current phase an unavoidable adjustment period. She pointed to recent successes, such as the $2.25 billion Eurobond issuance, which was oversubscribed by over $13 billion. According to her, this achievement demonstrates renewed investor confidence in Nigeria’s economy.
Strengthening Youth Engagement and Unity
The minister was recently appointed as the South-East Regional Leader and First Matron of the APC Youth League, an honor that reflects her dedication to youth empowerment and development. During her address to young party members, she stressed the importance of unity across ethnic and religious lines.
“There is no tribal sentiment, no religious sentiment, no discrimination whatsoever. As long as you represent a creed, we are one family,” she said.
Uzoka-Anite also expressed pride in her heritage, stating, “I am from the South-East, very proud of my heritage, and fully aligned with my people.”
The APC Youth League’s National President, Olamide Lawal, welcomed the minister’s initiative to empower 5,000 young people in the South-East, describing it as a key part of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“We are ready to support Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite to empower our youths. Our mission is to build a vibrant youth structure and strengthen party loyalty from the grassroots,” Lawal said.
Preparing for the Future
Chairman of the South-East and Niger Delta Coordinators Forum, Promise Okolie, mentioned that the Youth League is already mobilizing ahead of the 2027 elections. He announced the launch of “Youth for Youth 2027,” a campaign aimed at galvanizing support for the President’s continuity.
“We are launching Youth for Youth 2027 to galvanise support for the President’s continuity,” he stated.
This event marks a significant step in the APC’s efforts to strengthen its presence in the South-East, a region where the party has historically struggled to gain deep electoral support. The focus on youth engagement and unity is seen as a crucial strategy for future success.
