New Appointments in the Nigerian Federal Government

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially sworn in two new ministers to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Dr Bernard Mohammed Doro and Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, SAN, have been appointed to key positions within the government. The swearing-in ceremony took place in the presence of members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), marking a significant step in the administration’s efforts to strengthen governance and address pressing national challenges.

Key Appointments and Backgrounds

Dr Bernard Mohammed Doro was nominated by President Tinubu to replace Nentawe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Doro underwent a screening process by the National Assembly two weeks prior to his appointment, ensuring that he meets the necessary qualifications for the role. His appointment is seen as a strategic move to consolidate leadership within the party and enhance the administration’s effectiveness.

Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, SAN, was confirmed by the Senate on Thursday. He has been appointed to replace Uche Nnaji, the former Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, who left office under controversial circumstances due to allegations of irregularities in his academic credentials. Udeh’s appointment signals a shift in leadership and a commitment to restoring public trust in the ministry.

The swearing-in ceremony occurred just before the start of the FEC meeting at the Council chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja. This timing underscores the significance of the event and the administration’s focus on addressing both domestic and international challenges.

Following the swearing-in, the President addressed the FEC after Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, provided a detailed briefing on the ongoing economic reforms and the performance of the economy so far. The discussion highlighted the administration’s efforts to stabilize the economy and implement policies aimed at fostering growth and development.

  • National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu

In addition to these officials, various cabinet ministers and special advisers were present, reflecting the broad participation in the discussions and decision-making processes of the administration.
