Governor Commends Security Forces for Swift Response to Banditry Attacks
Kano Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed his appreciation for the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their rapid response to recent banditry attacks in various parts of the state. This commendation was made public through a statement released by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
During a meeting at the Government House in Kano, Governor Yusuf received Major General Abubakar Sadiq Muhammad Wase, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army based in Kaduna. The General was in the state to evaluate the security situation in Shanono and Tsanyawa Local Governments.
General Wase shared some personal memories during the visit, recalling his early days at the Kano Government House, where his late father, Colonel Muhammad Abdullahi Wase, served as Military Sole Administrator in 1994. He described the visit as a “familiarity visit” and mentioned that since taking command of the 1 Division, he has been visiting areas affected by recent attacks to recognize the efforts of the military personnel.
“I am here on a familiarity visit. Since assuming command at 1 Division, I have visited the scenes of recent attacks to commend our gallant officers,” the GOC stated.
Governor Yusuf expressed gratitude to the military for their unwavering commitment and also acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing capable service chiefs who are dedicated to national security. The Governor emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong defense against ongoing threats such as banditry, kidnapping, and cattle rustling.
In addition to his words of appreciation, Governor Yusuf announced the donation of 10 Hilux trucks and 60 motorcycles to the Joint Task Force operating in the affected regions. This move is aimed at enhancing the operational capacity of the security forces working to restore peace and stability in the area.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s continued support for security agencies in their efforts to combat crime and ensure the safety of residents in Kano State. His actions reflect a broader commitment to addressing the challenges posed by insecurity and fostering a secure environment for all citizens.
