New Leadership for Rwanda’s National Paralympic Committee
On Saturday, November 8, the members of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) in Rwanda made a significant decision by electing Dominique Bizimana as their new president for a four-year term that will last until 2029. The election took place at the Classic Hotel, marking a pivotal moment for the organization as Bizimana returns to the top position he previously held between 2001 and 2012. His re-election was confirmed with 21 votes out of the 40 members present.
Bizimana expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him, stating, “It’s an honor to be trusted again. Together with my newly elected committee, we are going to work with transparency.” His commitment to transparency sets the tone for the future direction of the NPC, emphasizing accountability and openness in all operations.
His predecessor, Murema, also shared his thoughts on the transition. He expressed heartfelt gratitude for the collaboration with his committee throughout his tenure. Murema highlighted the achievements made during his time in service, particularly noting the progress in development. “What I’m most proud of is that our board members gained a deeper understanding of their responsibilities. Since 2017, discipline has also greatly improved, allowing athletes to fully showcase their talents,” he said.
Murema encouraged the incoming committee to lead with teamwork and to foster innovation while embracing accountability. His words reflect a vision for a more dynamic and responsible leadership structure within the NPC.
