Mankranso SHS NSMQ Stars Make Grand Return to School: “Beyond Champions”

Mankranso SHS Contestants Receive Heroic Welcome After NSMQ Participation

The Mankranso Senior High School (SHS) contestants of the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) were welcomed back to their school with an enthusiastic celebration after finishing the competition. The event was marked by a warm reception from students, teachers, and members of the local community.

A video capturing the moment quickly went viral on social media, showcasing the excitement surrounding the return of the three students who represented the school in the quiz. Many users praised the school authorities for organizing such a memorable welcome for the contestants.

The team from Mankranso SHS included Blessed Oforiwaa Nsiah, Augustine Manu Neyare, and Herbert Abugbilla Adelwin. These students made it to the semi-final stage of the competition after defeating St Thomas Aquinas and Ghana National College in the quarter-finals. They then competed against Mfantsipim School and Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) in the semi-finals. Although Mfantsipim emerged victorious in that round, they eventually won the trophy in the grand finale.

Upon returning to the school, the contestants were greeted by students standing outside, cheering them on. Locals living near the school also joined in the celebration, showing their support for the young achievers.

The arrival was marked by a police motor leading the convoy, which carried the three students. As they waved at the crowd along the roadside, several motorbikes joined the procession, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Social Media Reactions to the Welcome

Social media users shared their thoughts on the video that captured the students’ return. Here are some of the highlights:

  • @D_Adu_gyamfisaid:
“This is very good. It will inspire all the kids running around the road to work harder at school. They will also feel, if they work hard enough, someone will give them the same or better welcome one day. A very well done to the reps and their tutors.”

“This is what it’s all about, Charley. The recognition alone is on another level. It’s not just the contest, but how you change the perception and beliefs for the young ones who are coming. Much Love to the people of MANKRANSO for giving them a HEROES welcome. I’m crying 🥹.”

“Now most of the kids are going to want this, and Ghana will benefit from it in the future.”

Scholarship Award for Mankranso SHS Contestant

In addition to the celebratory welcome, there was more good news for one of the contestants. Blessed Oforiwaa Nsiah, a student from Mankranso SHS, was awarded a $40,000 scholarship. This opportunity will allow her to study at one of Ghana’s top universities, Academic City University.

The grand finale of the 2025 National Science and Math Quiz took place on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
