Trump’s Warning: Beyond Churches — C&S Leaders’ Dialogue

Church Leaders Emphasize Governmental Responsibility in Addressing International Concerns

The Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide (Ayo Ni O) has addressed the recent statements by the US President regarding alleged genocides against Christians, describing the matter as a sensitive issue that should be handled at the governmental level rather than through religious discourse. Speaking to journalists during the 2025 Annual Conference and Convention of the church, the Director of Mission, Special Apostle Moses Ademola Popoola, emphasized that religious leaders should not engage in such discussions unless they are directly involved.

Popoola acknowledged the freedom of the American President to express his views but argued that it is not the role of religious leaders to respond publicly. “The American President has the freedom to talk. But as religious persons, many of us cannot engage ourselves in such discussions. One must be knowledgeable enough to know what to say. The Nigerian government is there to reply to him,” he stated.

He further clarified that the issue, though sensitive, should be addressed by the government rather than from the pulpit. “Although the issue may appear to have a religious angle, President Trump is not speaking as a head of a church. He is speaking as a president, and he should be replied to by a president too,” he explained.

Popoola also mentioned that he would only respond publicly if a religious leader made similar remarks. “If a religious leader says anything on that matter, then I can come out to reply as a religious person myself,” he said.

Focus on National Unity and Spiritual Guidance

The cleric urged spiritual leaders across Nigeria to focus on prayers for the nation rather than engaging in divisive commentary. “Yes, Nigeria is going through difficult times, but no foreigner will help us fix our problems,” he said. “We must play our part, talk to our people, and be sensible with what we preach.”

The Cherubim & Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide (Ayo Ni O) also called on President Bola Tinubu to intensify efforts toward ending insecurity and alleviating economic hardship. The church further encouraged Nigerians to remain steadfast in faith and national unity.

Addressing Socio-Economic Challenges

In his keynote address, the Spiritual Father and Chairman of the Cherubim & Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide (Ayo Ni O), His Most Eminence, Prophet (Dr.) Emmanuel Adewale Abiodun Alogbo, highlighted the progress being made in Nigeria while acknowledging the persistent socio-economic challenges and insecurity.

“The state of our country, Nigeria, is steadily growing, and the country is gradually overcoming socio-economic challenges. However, we observe with deep concern the displacement and violence in communities where Christians are predominantly populated, especially in Southern Kaduna,” he said.

He added that other Nigerians continue to suffer from natural disasters and economic hardship. “Many of our people are affected by climate change incidents such as floods, causing hardship, homelessness, and loss of properties. We must continue to pray for our country and support the present administration in its efforts to combat insecurity and improve the standard of living for ordinary Nigerians,” he stated.

Event Highlights and Community Engagement

The week-long event, attended by thousands of worshippers from across Nigeria and abroad, featured praise sessions, awards presentation, and sermons focused on the theme “Great Mercies” (Isaiah 54:7).
