Golf Queen Shin Ji-ae to Perform at Yoo So-yeon’s Wedding

A New Chapter for Shin Ji-ae

Shin Ji-ae, the 38-year-old ‘Golf Empress’ with an impressive record of 66 career wins, is stepping away from the golf course to take the stage. Known for her exceptional skills on the green, she will now be performing a congratulatory song at Yoo So-yeon’s wedding next month. This marks a unique shift in her career, as she balances her passion for golf with her growing interest in music.

During her recent participation in the LPGA Tour Toto Japan Classic at Setagaya Golf Club in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, Japan, Shin Ji-ae shared her plans. She mentioned, “I agreed to sing a congratulatory song at Yoo So-yeon’s wedding next month.” While she admitted that she is currently busy with tournaments and training, she emphasized the importance of practicing singing. This dedication shows her commitment to both her athletic and artistic pursuits.

A Musical Journey

Shin Ji-ae has previously dabbled in the music industry, releasing two albums in the past. In 2009, she released a remake of Lee Seung-chul’s song “Don’t Say Goodbye.” At the time, she shared, “It’s a song my late mother loved.” This personal touch added depth to her musical endeavors, connecting her work to her personal history.

The following year, she ventured into the realm of Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) by releasing an album. The proceeds from this album were donated to help underprivileged neighbors, showcasing her charitable spirit. When reporters jokingly asked about the possibility of a new album, Shin Ji-ae mentioned the upcoming singing event, saying, “I have a singing event next month.”

Continued Success on the Golf Course

Despite her musical aspirations, Shin Ji-ae continues to excel in her professional golf career. She recently showcased her skills by winning the Salonpas Cup, a major tournament on the Japanese Tour, in May. Her performance was impressive, finishing tied for sixth place with a 3-round total of 10-under par.

Nasa Hataoka of Japan recorded an outstanding 15-under par, securing victory after defeating Yuna Araki (Japan) in a playoff. Among Korean players, Yoon In-a achieved her first top-10 finish of the season, tying for 10th place at 7-under par. The tournament was shortened to 54 holes due to heavy rain, which canceled the fourth round.

A Balance of Passion and Purpose

Shin Ji-ae’s journey highlights her ability to balance multiple passions. From her achievements on the golf course to her contributions in the music industry, she continues to inspire those around her. Her decision to perform at a friend’s wedding not only showcases her versatility but also reflects her deep connection with others.

As she prepares for her upcoming singing event, it’s clear that Shin Ji-ae is not just a golfer; she is a multifaceted individual with a heart for both sports and music. Her story serves as a reminder that pursuing different interests can lead to a more fulfilling and diverse life. Whether on the golf course or the stage, Shin Ji-ae remains a symbol of dedication, talent, and compassion.
