Accused Man Appears in Court for Alleged Armed Robbery
A 33-year-old man, Konyeha Armstrong, has appeared before an Ilorin Magistrate Court, facing charges of participating in an armed robbery in Amoyo, within the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State. The accused, who works as a barber and installer, is charged with criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.
The case was transferred to the court from the Amoyo Division following a complaint made by Mrs. Alayande Rofiat Temitope of Amoyo. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the incident involved three armed men who invaded the complainant’s residence while she and her husband were asleep.
- According to the charge sheet, the assailants were armed with a pistol, wooden sticks, and a large stone. They allegedly stole several valuables, including a Tecno Spark 20, Redmi Note 12, a 65-inch Polystar television, a Lenovo laptop, two clippers, a rechargeable lamp, home theatre speakers, clothes, and shoes.
- The robbers also reportedly demanded the victims’ bank details before fleeing the scene. During their escape, the stolen television fell and was damaged in the compound.
The police informed the court that the stolen phones were tracked, leading to Armstrong’s arrest on August 13, 2025. One of the stolen devices was recovered from him during the arrest.
During interrogation, Armstrong confessed voluntarily, admitting that he conspired with two others, Segun and Kehinde, who are still at large. The Tecno Spark 20 phone found on him was identified as his share of the proceeds from the robbery.
Prosecutor Akinjide Adisa requested the court to remand the accused, but defence counsel Toyin Onaolapo opposed this application. In his ruling, Magistrate A.A. Gambari ordered that the accused be remanded in the correctional facility and adjourned the case for two weeks.
