Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has secured a decisive victory in the Anambra governorship election, as confirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The results highlight a significant margin of victory for Soludo, with APGA securing a substantial number of votes across the state.

According to the official figures released by INEC, APGA received 422,664 votes from the 21 local governments. This overwhelming lead placed its closest competitor, the All Progressives Congress (APC), far behind with only 99,445 votes. The Labour Party (LP) came in third with 10,576 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recorded a mere 1,401 votes.

The results show that Soludo’s dominance was consistent across all three senatorial districts in Anambra. In Dunukofia Local Government, APGA polled 14,892 votes, while APC managed 3,284, LP had 71, and PDP secured just 16. In Njikoka, APGA led with 22,213 votes, followed by APC with 5,687, LP with 311, and PDP with 47.

This trend continued in Awka North, where APGA amassed 15,895 votes against APC’s 3,661. In Soludo’s home area, Aguata Local Government, APGA recorded a landslide 35,559 votes, with APC receiving 4,125 and YPP securing 2,746. Orumba South and Orumba North also went to APGA, with 19,818 and 24,664 votes respectively, leaving APC far behind with 2,828 and 2,615 votes.

In Oyi Local Government, APGA scored 18,882 votes, with APC at 5,118 and LP at 3,641. Anambra East saw APGA receive 14,665 votes, with APC trailing at 3,108 and YPP polling 6,153. Anyamelum followed the same pattern, with APGA at 13,340 votes against APC’s 7,478.

The pattern of dominance was replicated across other LGAs:

  • Nnewi North: APGA – 20,320; APC – 541
  • Nnewi South: APGA – 17,286; APC – 9,281
  • Ogbaru: APGA – 22,803; APC – 3,768
  • Onitsha North: APGA – 24,225; APC – 4,677

From these figures, it is evident that APGA maintained a consistent and overwhelming lead throughout the state. In some areas, such as Idemili North and Nnewi North, the gap between APGA and APC exceeded 20,000 votes. Even in LGAs where the APC showed some strength, like Nnewi South and Anyamelum, Soludo maintained a comfortable advantage.
