SSP and DIG Transferred to FIA in Islamabad; Official Notification Issued

Government Transfers Senior Police Officers to FIA

The government has made a significant move by transferring two senior Islamabad police officers to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). According to two separate notifications issued by the Establishment Division on Saturday, Muhammad Jawad Tariq, a BS-19 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), and Muhammad Shoaib Khan, a BS-18 officer of the same service, have been reassigned to the FIA. Their services are now placed at the disposal of the FIA under the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control.

This transfer has raised several questions about the internal dynamics within law enforcement agencies in the country. The move could be part of a larger strategy to strengthen the FIA’s operational capabilities or may indicate a shift in leadership priorities. However, no official statement has been released regarding the reasons behind these transfers.

Alleged Robbery by Individuals in FIA Uniforms

In a separate incident, eight men wearing FIA uniforms allegedly robbed a citizen of Rs200,000 in the Tarnol police station area of Islamabad. According to police sources, the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Tarnol Police Station, where eight unidentified individuals, claiming to be FIA officials, stopped a local resident. They allegedly assaulted him, forced him to withdraw Rs200,000 from an ATM, and then fled the scene.

The victim, Muhammad Asif, a building contractor, reported the incident to the police. He stated that he was driving home from Dhoke Paracha when two vehicles intercepted him. The occupants introduced themselves as FIA officials and sought his identity. They then bundled him into one of their cars.

Asif described the suspects as being between 30 and 35 years of age and dressed in uniforms resembling those of a government department. He mentioned that they were traveling in a Toyota Corolla and a Suzuki Alto.

Details of the Incident

According to Asif’s account, the suspects beat him, threatened to kill him, and later took him to an ATM booth in Tarnol. There, they compelled him to withdraw the money before fleeing with the cash. Despite filing a formal complaint at the Police Station, Asif claimed that no action had been taken even after three days.

This incident has sparked concerns about the misuse of official uniforms and the potential for abuse of power by individuals posing as law enforcement officials. It also raises questions about the effectiveness of the police response in such cases.

Ongoing Investigations

Authorities are currently investigating both the transfer of the two senior police officers and the alleged robbery. The FIA has not yet commented on the situation, but it is expected that further details will emerge as the investigation progresses.
