Chiamaka Nnadozie’s Journey to the 2025 FIFA Best Women’s Goalkeeper Award
Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has been shortlisted for the 2025 FIFA Best Women’s Goalkeeper Award. This prestigious recognition highlights her exceptional performances throughout the 2024/25 season and underscores her growing influence in women’s football.
FIFA officially launched the voting process for The Best FIFA Football Awards 2025 on Thursday. Fans from around the globe can now cast their votes for the best players, coaches, and goalkeepers of the year through the official FIFA app. This global initiative allows supporters to have a direct say in recognizing outstanding talent in the sport.
Nnadozie is among a formidable list of contenders for the top honor, including Ann-Katrin Berger (Germany), Cata Coll (Spain), Christiane Endler (Chile), Hannah Hampton (England), Anna Moorhouse (England), and Phallon Tullis-Joyce (USA). Her inclusion in this elite group is a testament to her consistent excellence and impact on the field.
The reigning African Goalkeeper of the Year made the shortlist after an impressive campaign during the 2024/25 season. She played a pivotal role in leading her former club, Paris FC, to victory in the Coupe de France Féminine, marking their first title in nearly 20 years. Her contributions were instrumental in securing this historic achievement.
In addition to her club success, Nnadozie was a key player in Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON triumph in Morocco earlier this year. She was named the Goalkeeper of the Tournament, showcasing her ability to perform under pressure. During the competition, she kept four clean sheets in six matches and conceded only twice from open play, both in the final against Morocco. Despite being two goals down, the Falcons staged a remarkable comeback to win 3-2.
Nnadozie also helped Paris FC reach the French league playoffs before making the move to Brighton Women in England. At her new club, she has continued to deliver consistent performances, further solidifying her reputation as one of the top goalkeepers in the world.
Her achievements have not gone unnoticed. Nnadozie was nominated for the 2025 Women’s Yachine Trophy at the Ballon d’Or, where she finished fourth. This recognition highlights her growing stature in the international football scene.
Looking ahead, the 24-year-old is in contention for a third CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award at the upcoming CAF Awards ceremony. This potential achievement would further cement her legacy as one of Africa’s finest goalkeepers.
Voting for the FIFA Best Awards will conclude on November 28, with the winners being honored at a ceremony early next year. As fans and experts alike await the results, Nnadozie’s journey continues to inspire and captivate football enthusiasts around the world.
