APP names interim state executive in Imo

New Leadership Unveiled for Action Peoples Party in Imo State

The Action Peoples Party (APP) has taken a significant step forward by unveiling its interim State Executive Committee in Imo State. This development was announced through a statement released on Friday, which was jointly signed by the party’s National Chairman, Uchenna Nnadi, and National Secretary, Abu Bossan.

The statement outlined the appointments of key leadership positions within the state branch of the party. Ernest Njesi was named as the Interim Chairman, Emeka Onwukwe as Secretary, and Emma Bukar as Organising Secretary. These individuals are expected to play a crucial role in shaping the party’s strategy and operations at the grassroots level.

“The new executives are mandated to consolidate grassroots structures and strengthen mobilisation across the 27 local government areas of Imo State,” the statement emphasized. It highlighted the importance of building a strong foundation for the party’s activities in the region.

Strategic Leadership and Zoning Arrangement

The selection of the new executive team followed weeks of quiet consultations led by Dr Chima Amadi, a prominent figure in Imo State politics and a frontline candidate for the governorship in the 2027 elections. Dr Amadi, who is also the founder of The Mazi Organisation, recently adopted the APP as his political platform for the upcoming election cycle.

This strategic move underscores the party’s commitment to aligning with influential figures who can help drive its agenda forward. The collaboration between Dr Amadi and the APP is expected to bring a fresh perspective and additional resources to the party’s efforts in Imo State.

Under the party’s zoning arrangement, the leadership positions were distributed based on regional representation. The Orlu Zone produced the Chairman, the Owerri Zone the Secretary, and the Okigwe Zone the Organising Secretary. This distribution reflects the party’s emphasis on balanced representation and local engagement.

Encouragement from National Leadership

In its message to the newly appointed officers, the APP national leadership extended its congratulations and offered words of encouragement. They urged the team to serve with “dedication, unity, and integrity.” The national leadership also stressed that the party’s growth would depend on inclusive and disciplined mobilisation.

This call for unity and discipline is particularly important given the competitive political landscape in Imo State. The party will need to maintain a cohesive strategy to effectively challenge other political entities and gain support from voters across the state.

Looking Ahead

With the new leadership in place, the APP is poised to focus on strengthening its presence in Imo State. The interim committee will be tasked with not only consolidating existing structures but also expanding the party’s reach to ensure it remains a formidable force in the region.

As the party moves forward, it will be essential for the new leadership to build trust among members and supporters. This will require transparent communication, effective organization, and a clear vision for the future of the party.

The appointment of the interim State Executive Committee marks a pivotal moment for the Action Peoples Party in Imo State. With the right strategies and a committed team, the party has the potential to make a significant impact in the upcoming elections and beyond.
