Governor Commends Security Agencies for Swift Response to Banditry

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has publicly praised the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their rapid and effective response to recent banditry attacks in various parts of the state. This commendation was made through a statement released by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

The Governor expressed his appreciation during a meeting with the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Abubakar Sadiq Muhammad Wase, at the Government House in Kano. The GOC had arrived in the state to assess the security situation in Shanono and Tsanyawa Local Governments.

During the meeting, General Wase shared personal reflections on his early days at the Kano Government House, where his late father, Colonel Muhammad Abdullahi Wase, served as Military Sole Administrator in 1994. He described the visit as a “familiarity visit” and emphasized that since taking command of the 1 Division, he has been visiting areas affected by recent attacks to commend the efforts of military personnel.

“I am here on a familiarity visit. Since assuming command at 1 Division, I have visited the scenes of recent attacks to commend our gallant officers,” the GOC stated.

Governor Yusuf also expressed his gratitude to the military for their unwavering dedication and acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing competent service chiefs who are committed to national security. He highlighted the importance of maintaining strong coordination between the state government and security agencies to address the growing threat of banditry, kidnapping, and cattle rustling.

In a significant move, the Governor announced the donation of 10 Hilux trucks and 60 motorcycles to the Joint Task Force operating in the affected areas. This gesture underscores his administration’s commitment to providing essential resources to enhance the operational capacity of security forces.

The Governor reiterated his administration’s resolve to continue supporting security agencies in their efforts to restore peace and stability in the state. He emphasized that the fight against banditry is not just a security issue but a matter of protecting the lives and properties of the people of Kano.
