Ferouz Focused Ahead of Rayon vs. APR Derby

Haruna Ferouz Expresses Confidence Ahead of Crucial Derby Match

Haruna Ferouz, the interim coach of Rayon Sports, has shown strong confidence as his team gears up for a high-stakes match against APR FC on Saturday, November 8, in the Rwanda Premier League. Ferouz took over the coaching responsibilities following the suspension of head coach Afhamia Lotfi last month. He recently addressed reporters after the team’s final training session at Nzove on Thursday afternoon.

“I’ve experienced several derby matches, both as a player and as a coach. These games are always intense, but I’m used to the atmosphere,” said the Burundian tactician. His experience in such high-pressure environments gives him an edge as he prepares his squad for the challenging encounter.

The team is in good shape, according to Ferouz, who emphasized that the players are mentally prepared for the game. “The players are in good shape and mentally ready,” he noted. This positive outlook is further bolstered by the return of key players Chris Rushema and Abed Bigirimana, who have rejoined the squad recently.

However, there are some concerns regarding the fitness of two forwards, Fall Ngagne and Asman Ndikumana. Both players are not yet fully fit and are unlikely to feature in the match. Their absence could impact the team’s attacking options, but Ferouz remains optimistic about the overall strength of his squad.

Ferouz also highlighted the team’s thorough preparation for the game. “Our fans always turn up in large numbers, and we’ll do our best to deliver a good game,” he added. The support from the fans is a crucial factor in any derby, and the coach is determined to make the most of it.

Rayon Sports currently holds the second position in the league with 13 points after securing three consecutive wins. Police FC leads the table with 16 points, while APR FC is in eighth place with eight points. However, APR FC has two games in hand, which could influence the standings in the coming weeks.

In addition to the upcoming match, there have been changes in the club’s administrative structure. Kelly Abraham and Mike Habinshuti have been appointed as Secretary General and Vice President of Rayon Sports, respectively. These appointments come after the resignation of two committee members. Kelly previously served as the Secretary General in 2020, and Habinshuti was the leader of the fans club. They replace Roger Aimable Ngoga and Patrick Rukundo.
