Chad Bowie Returns to Kepler Basketball in Rwanda
American point guard Chad Bowie has made a return to the Rwanda Basketball League (RBL) side Kepler Basketball on a one-year deal. This marks a significant move for the 29-year-old, who previously played for the team and was instrumental in their success.
Bowie had spent several months playing for Ugandan powerhouse City Oilers, where he helped them reach the final series of the Ugandan league playoffs. Despite losing the trophy to bitter rivals Nam Blazers, his contributions were vital to the team’s performance.
Chad Bowie is expected to rejoin Kepler on December 1. He is the son of former Orlando Magic shooting guard Anthony Lee Bowie. At Kepler, he has been one of the most important players, fueling the team’s competitiveness in the league. His impact has been evident over the years, with his skills and leadership making him a key figure on the court.
In the 2024 season, Bowie delivered an impressive performance, finishing as the top scorer with 410 points. He also recorded 62 steals and was the third best three-point shooter with 54 points scored from three pointers. His all-around performance highlighted his value to the team and solidified his reputation as a reliable player.
New Signings Boost Kepler’s Roster
Last week, Kepler Basketball announced the signing of Kenny Manzi, an Australia-based Rwandan guard. Manzi is currently in the national team camp, preparing for the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers scheduled to take place in Tunisia from November 27 to 30. His inclusion in the squad underscores the club’s commitment to strengthening its roster with local talent.
In addition to Manzi, Jabs Newby, a Jamaican-Canadian point guard with experience in Canada’s top flight league, has also joined the club. Newby brings a wealth of international experience, having played in some of the most competitive leagues in North America. His arrival is expected to add depth and versatility to Kepler’s backcourt.
A Growing Team with Big Ambitions
The recent signings highlight Kepler Basketball’s strategic approach to building a strong and competitive team. With the return of Chad Bowie and the addition of new players like Manzi and Newby, the club is well-positioned to challenge for titles in the upcoming seasons.
Bowie’s previous stint with Kepler showcased his ability to elevate the team’s performance. His experience in both the Ugandan and Rwandan leagues, combined with his scoring and playmaking abilities, makes him a valuable asset. As he prepares to rejoin the team, fans are eager to see how his presence will impact the club’s success.
The team’s management has expressed confidence in the new additions, emphasizing their potential to contribute to the club’s long-term goals. With a mix of experienced players and emerging talents, Kepler Basketball is setting the stage for a promising future in the Rwanda Basketball League.
