Final Opportunities for Golfers to Qualify for NCBA Golf Series Grand Finale

Golf enthusiasts have a final chance to qualify for the 2025 NCBA Golf Series Grand Finale at the Nyahururu Golf Club monthly mug scheduled for Saturday. This event will serve as a mini qualifier, following the recent Muthaiga Golf Club leg, where six players secured their spots in the grand finale.

The Grand Finale is set to take place on November 28 at Muthaiga. The previous weekend’s competition saw junior golfer Brianna Ngecu shine, winning the Overall Lady Winner title at Muthaiga. At just 13 years old, she scored 81 strokes with a handicap of 10, securing her place in the Grand Finale.

In the men’s category, Quram Bhatti, with a handicap of +1, emerged as the Overall Men Winner with a gross score of 71. He narrowly edged out Bhavnish Chandaria on countback.

Division Two winners were Christine Ng’ang’a, who scored 42 points, and Ravi Patel, who earned 41 points. Wanjiku Mbuthi claimed Division Three with 39 points, while Maina Kaniu won the Junior category with 40 points. Edwin Olweny and Daniel Chege were recognized as guest and staff winners, respectively.

NCBA Group Director John Gachora expressed enthusiasm about the weekend’s events, which include the Nyahururu monthly mug, the NCBA Manchester Salver as part of the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship Series, and the Kiambu Golf Club Captain’s Prize.

“These tournaments highlight our commitment to growing golf across the region, providing platforms for golfers to showcase talent and fostering competition and community,” he said.

Meanwhile, over 160 golfers are expected to participate in Saturday’s Kiambu Golf Club Captain’s Prize, marking the end of a tournament week that has already featured several events, including the Clergy and Friends event, juniors day, a seniors tournament, and a curtain raiser.

The Caddies Tournament will follow on Monday. Outgoing Captain William Muguima thanked NCBA, the year’s title sponsor, for its support of the event.

“Welcoming over 160 players is a milestone for Kiambu Golf Club. This turnout reflects the work we have done this year with our members and sponsors,” he said.
