These actions are part of an intensified effort to combat terrorism, insurgent activities, and criminal networks, as directed by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu.

The operations aim to dismantle all terror and criminal networks that threaten national security. The Army emphasized that these efforts reflect its renewed focus on maintaining a strong combat posture and ensuring the safety of citizens.

North East Operations: Precision Strikes and Ambushes

In the North East, troops from Sector 3 of Operation Hadin Kai conducted a precision cordon-and-search operation in Anguwan Church, Monguno, Borno State. This operation led to the arrest of 12 suspects linked to terror logistics and intelligence. The Army also reported that the 192 Battalion ambushed ISWAP/JAS elements along the Gwoza-Limankara axis, neutralizing three terrorists and recovering an AK-47 rifle with five rounds of ammunition.

Additionally, troops from the 25 Brigade in Damboa neutralized a terrorist attempting to infiltrate their position for reconnaissance. These actions highlight the effectiveness of the Army’s strategy in targeting key individuals involved in terrorist activities.

North West and North Central: Raids and Arrests

In the North West and North Central regions, Operation Enduring Peace troops in Kaduna State raided a terrorist hideout in Kauru LGA, killing two insurgents responsible for recent attacks on civilians. In Plateau State, troops arrested four suspects linked to the murder of two residents in Riyom LGA. Meanwhile, Niger State operatives eliminated a terrorist scout and recovered a motorcycle, mobile phone, and operational items.

These operations demonstrate the Army’s commitment to addressing both large-scale and localized threats, ensuring that communities remain safe from the influence of criminal and terrorist groups.

Commitment to National Security

The Nigerian Army reiterated its determination to protect citizens and defend Nigeria’s sovereignty. The statement concluded with an appeal to the public to continue providing credible information to aid in the ongoing efforts to end insecurity and reclaim every inch of national space from criminal elements.

The Army remains unyielding in its resolve to restore peace and stability to the nation. Through continuous operations and strategic coordination, it aims to ensure that the threat posed by terrorists and criminals is significantly reduced.

Ongoing Efforts and Future Outlook

With the leadership of Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Nigerian Army has shown a clear shift towards more proactive and effective measures against insecurity. The recent operations are just one example of the Army’s broader strategy to not only respond to threats but also to prevent them from arising in the first place.

As the Army continues its efforts, it is expected to maintain a strong presence in areas affected by terrorism and insurgency. This will involve not only military action but also collaboration with local communities to gather intelligence and build trust.

The success of these operations underscores the importance of sustained efforts in the fight against terrorism and crime. It also highlights the need for continued support from the public and other stakeholders to ensure long-term security and stability in Nigeria.
