Rising Tension in Kakamega Over Principal’s Death
Tension is escalating in Kakamega as the death of Simon Isiaho, the principal of Munyuki PAG Secondary School, continues to spark questions and concerns across the county. The incident, which occurred after an alleged road accident, has left many seeking clarity and justice.

The situation took a turn when Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera addressed the matter by writing to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). His letter called for a deeper investigation into claims made by bloggers who linked him to the incident. The MP’s legal team emphasized the need to question three bloggers accused of spreading harmful allegations online.
Who Are the Bloggers Involved?
The bloggers identified in the case are Peter Amunga, George Opunga Tamata, and Simon Asievela. They were reportedly responsible for sharing content that portrayed the MP as being involved in the events surrounding the principal’s final moments. According to Nabwera’s legal representatives, these posts created confusion and painted a misleading picture of the situation.
The legal team argued that the claims not only caused unnecessary distraction but also risked slowing down efforts to determine what happened along the Eldoret Malaba highway. They requested the DCI to intervene in order to uncover the truth behind the statements made by the bloggers.
Legal Action and Demands for Clarity
In their letter, the MP’s lawyers mentioned that Nabwera had already served the bloggers with a demand notice. Now, they are urging the DCI to question the bloggers about their knowledge of the incident. The legal team stressed the importance of determining whether the bloggers had any factual information or were circulating falsehoods that deepened tensions and damaged Nabwera’s reputation.
The appeal to investigators highlighted that the principal’s disappearance and subsequent death had caused pain among his family, colleagues, and residents of Lugari. The MP’s team believes that bringing clarity to the matter would help restore public trust and reduce speculation in the county.
Calls for Justice and Safety
At the same time, officials from the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) in Kakamega called for justice and urged the government to guarantee teachers’ safety. School heads in Lugari added their own request, asking the state to consider arming them due to growing insecurity.
Legal Notice and Financial Claims
In a related development, the MP issued a legal notice seeking KSh 20 million from the three bloggers for alleged defamation. He claimed that the posts damaged his image and were politically motivated. The bloggers were given a 12-hour deadline to apologize and retract the content, with the threat of legal action if they failed to comply.
This ongoing situation has raised several critical questions about the role of social media in public discourse, the responsibility of bloggers, and the need for transparency in such sensitive matters. As the investigation continues, the community remains on edge, hoping for answers and a resolution that brings peace and clarity to the region.
