Rwanda Paralympic Committee Leadership Elections Set for November 8
After months of delays, the leadership elections for the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Rwanda are finally scheduled to take place on November 8. This decision was announced by the special committee tasked with organizing the polls. The committee has also released a list of approved candidates who are vying for various positions within the NPC.
Previous Challenges and Mediation
The previous committee, led by Jean Baptiste Murema, was expected to complete its mandate on June 28 and oversee the election of new leaders. However, internal disputes among members of the executive committee caused significant delays. To address these issues, the National Council of Persons with Disabilities (NCPD) stepped in, calling for mediation between the conflicting parties. NCPD Secretary General Emmanuel Ndayisaba confirmed that the issues have now been resolved, allowing the elections to proceed as planned.
