MTN Ghana’s Ambition 2025 Strategy: A Path to Digital Transformation
MTN Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to its Ambition 2025 strategy, a comprehensive plan aimed at transforming the company from a traditional telecommunications provider into a leading digital platform player. This initiative, launched in 2021, is designed to help MTN adapt to evolving industry dynamics while driving sustainable growth and innovation.
At a recent media and stakeholders engagement in Takoradi, Western Region, Adwoa Wiafe, Chief Corporate and Sustainability Officer at MTN, outlined the key components of the strategy. She emphasized that the initiative focuses on five core areas: fintech, big data and intelligence, enterprise solutions, network-as-a-service, and application programming interfaces (APIs).
Focusing on Key Areas for Growth
One of the most significant aspects of the Ambition 2025 strategy is the emphasis on APIs. These digital tools play a crucial role in simplifying customer experiences by enabling seamless digital transactions. For instance, customers can now pay ECG bills or access other services through mobile connectivity with ease.
As the fifth year of the strategy unfolds, MTN is continuously refining its approach to ensure it remains aligned with industry changes, stakeholder expectations, and sustainability goals. Madam Wiafe highlighted that the company has identified three main focus areas that will drive its growth agenda beyond 2025: connectivity, fintech, and digital platforms.
Expanding Connectivity and Infrastructure
On the topic of connectivity, MTN is actively expanding its network and enhancing service quality. Between 2021 and 2025, the company pledged to invest US$1 billion in network infrastructure, a commitment that has already been fulfilled. In the current year alone, over US$300 million has been allocated to improve coverage and service reliability across the country.
This investment underscores MTN’s dedication to ensuring that more people have access to reliable and high-quality communication services. The expansion of network infrastructure is not just about reaching more people but also about improving the overall user experience.
Advancing Fintech and Digital Services
