Regina Ayen, a 27-year-old South Sudanese woman, met a tragic end under mysterious circumstances in Malindi, Kilifi county. Her death has left her family devastated and searching for answers. The incident occurred when Ayen was allegedly attempting to escape from her mzungu lover, leading to a series of events that ultimately resulted in her demise.
According to reports, Ayen tried to flee by climbing over a gate that was equipped with sharp metal spikes. During this attempt, she slipped and was pierced in the right thigh by the spikes. She remained trapped on the gate throughout the night until she was discovered still alive in the morning. Emergency services were called, and she was rushed to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries due to excessive bleeding from the wounds.

Ayen’s family was informed of her passing and immediately rushed to the medical facility. The police were also notified and have launched an investigation into the incident. The Deputy Police Commander, Daniel Chacha, provided details about the event, stating that the gate had very sharp spikes and that Ayen had accidentally slipped while trying to jump over it.
Her family expressed their gratitude for the police’s swift response and commitment to investigating the matter. David Rachur, a family member, said they would fully cooperate with the security agencies to understand what led to the death of their relative. He added that they would leave the matter in the hands of the DCI (Directorate of Criminal Investigations) and continue cooperating with them as a family.

The incident has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with many Kenyans expressing their thoughts on the tragedy. Some questioned why Ayen was jumping, while others speculated about the involvement of a white foreigner. One user wrote, “Why was she jumping? Lazima iko reason ya kuruka.” Another commented, “Before I even finished reading, I knew it had to involve a white foreigner.”
Kenyan TikToker Deroh Otieno also made headlines after he shared his experience of splitting up with his mzungu lover. Otieno had previously posted videos showcasing his relationship with the man, which led to speculation about their connection. In one video, he was seen dancing to a popular song while serving his partner a glass of juice. In another, he appeared to be on a date with the man, with a waiter guiding him on where to sit in a fancy restaurant.
Otieno later shared an update on his TikTok account, indicating that things were not going well between him and the mzungu man. He was seen alongside a female friend as he sang along to an emotional Bongo song that reflected his heartbreak.
This tragic event has raised questions about safety, relationships, and the role of foreign partners in local communities. As the investigation continues, the community remains in mourning, seeking clarity and closure. The case highlights the importance of understanding the complexities of such situations and the need for thorough investigations to ensure justice is served.
