Tinubu’s Reforms Deserve Global Backing, Not Hostility — Lagos Lawmaker

A Call for International Support and Understanding

Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency I, has made a compelling appeal to the international community, especially the United States, to acknowledge and support Nigeria’s ongoing reforms under President Bola Tinubu. In a statement released on Friday, he emphasized the importance of commendation over threats, highlighting the nation’s efforts to address internal challenges.

Adedeji urged U.S. President Donald Trump to reconsider his stance on recent developments in Nigeria. He pointed out that President Tinubu is acutely aware of the country’s struggles and has been taking significant steps to bolster national security. This includes recent appointments within the Nigerian Armed Forces, aimed at restoring peace and stability.

“President Bola Tinubu, as a father, is not happy that bandits and terrorists continue to undermine the progress of his administration. This is why he has mandated the newly appointed service chiefs to put a final end to insecurity in the country. The current administration will not tolerate terrorism or its sponsors,” Adedeji stated.

The lawmaker, who holds a prominent position in the Lagos Assembly, noted that over the past two years, global institutions have recognized Nigeria’s economic advancements. These include declining inflation rates, increased investments, and initiatives to revitalize industries.

“The Tinubu administration has opened new economic pathways. Inflation has begun to drop for the first time in years, and the government has attracted multi-billion-dollar investments while reviving dormant industries,” he explained.

According to Adedeji, these economic improvements have had a positive impact on the naira and enhanced the financial stability of state governments across Nigeria.

He called for patience among Nigerians and advocated for international collaboration to maintain the country’s momentum. “What Nigeria needs now is partnership from the U.S. and other nations, not threats. Our people must continue to support the government’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ and trust that these reforms will yield lasting results,” he added.

Adedeji also encouraged the newly appointed service chiefs to rise to the challenge of ending insurgency and protecting the nation’s progress. His message underscores the need for unity and collective effort in addressing the multifaceted issues facing Nigeria.
