Deployment of Military Police for UACE Examination Security
The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has taken a significant step in ensuring the smooth conduct of the 2025 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) exams. As part of this effort, troops from the Military Police have been deployed to secure examination materials. This initiative is aimed at preventing any potential disruptions or security threats during the exam period.
Exam Schedule and Security Measures
The UACE exams are scheduled to begin on Monday, November 11th, and will conclude on Friday, December 6th. During this time, the Military Police will play a crucial role in enhancing the security of the examination process. Their responsibilities include reinforcing the Uganda Police Force in the transportation of examination materials to storage facilities across the country. Once the materials are safely stored, the Military Police will take charge of securing these facilities until the responsible officials sign out the materials.
Emphasis on Professionalism and Discipline
During a recent address to 490 officers and soldiers at Nsujju Mporwe Barracks in Mpigi District, Maj Gen William Bainomugisha, Commandant of the Military Police, highlighted the importance of professionalism during the national exams. He called on the personnel to demonstrate loyalty, hard work, and discipline as they carry out their duties.
He also urged them to act wisely and tactfully while safeguarding the examination materials. In his speech, the General emphasized the need to prioritize duty over personal gain. “Put the country first and money later,” he said, encouraging officers and militants to serve diligently and avoid extravagant lifestyles.
Additional Guidance from Senior Officers
At the same event, Brig Gen Christopher Columbus Tumwiine, the Deputy Commandant, reminded the troops to act as role models and maintain accountability. He stressed the importance of preserving the integrity of the Military Police and instructed personnel to stay alert, courteous, and focused on their duties. He also advised them to avoid political involvement or festive distractions that could compromise their performance.
Col Sylvia Meeme, the Brigade Operations and Training Officer, further reinforced the need for fairness, flexibility, and professionalism among the officers and militants. She encouraged them to approach their tasks with a sense of responsibility and dedication.
Conclusion
The deployment of the Military Police marks a critical step in ensuring the security and integrity of the UACE exams. With clear guidance from senior officers and a strong emphasis on discipline and professionalism, the UPDF is well-prepared to support the successful conduct of the examinations. The collaboration between the Military Police and the Uganda Police Force is expected to provide a secure environment for all candidates.
