Honorary Doctorates to Recognize Faith Leaders at Cornerstone University
Cornerstone University, a faith-based tertiary institution located in Ibadan, Oyo State, and owned by The Sword of the Spirit Ministries, is set to honor several prominent religious leaders with honorary doctorate degrees. The ceremony will take place during the university’s 4th Convocation and 7th Founder’s Day event on Tuesday, November 11.
The event, which spans a week, has the theme “The Trailblazer Set.” This theme reflects the university’s commitment to recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to society through their leadership and spiritual influence.
Notable Recipients
The recipients of the honorary doctorates include Pastor Nathaniel Bassey, Pastor Jerry Eze, Pastor Poju Oyemade, Apostle Joshua Selman, and Pastor Sola Osunmakinde. These leaders were selected for their transformative impact on the nation, their efforts in building communities, and their dedication to philanthropy and youth development through biblical teachings and ministry.
Bishop Francis Wale Oke, Chancellor of the university and National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, emphasized that the selection process was thorough. He stated that the university’s Senate and Governing Council approved the recognition after reviewing the track records of each awardee.

The honorary degrees being conferred include:
