ATCO Homes Reaffirms Commitment to Affordable Housing in Lagos
ATCO Homes, a prominent real estate developer with extensive projects in the Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos, has once again demonstrated its dedication to supporting the government’s initiative to provide quality housing for Nigeria’s expanding population. This commitment was highlighted during a recent business call by the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Bartholomew Egbochie.
Egbochie shared the firm’s achievements and emphasized that investor confidence in ATCO Homes’ portfolios is on the rise. As a UN Peace Ambassador, he also spoke about how urbanization and the increasing demand for smart homes are shaping the real estate landscape in Nigeria’s largest city.
He pointed out that while the government is implementing policies to make land acquisition more accessible, private enterprises like ATCO Homes are playing a crucial role in addressing the country’s housing deficit. “The government has been impressively responsive to the challenges of rapid urbanization,” Egbochie said. He cited specific examples, such as the state government’s allocation of N482.86 billion and N550.69 billion in 2023 and 2024 budgets respectively, to improve transportation through initiatives like the Red-Blue rail line and the Fourth Mainland Bridge.
Additionally, he noted that the government continues to support the real estate sector through Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) and regulatory frameworks established by LASERA.
Recognition and Growth
ATCO Homes has earned both local and international acclaim, including awards from the UK-based International Property Awards and Business Day Newspaper’s Business Leadership Award. According to Egbochie, these accolades reflect the company’s unwavering commitment to integrity and fair engagement with clients, government authorities, and landowner communities.
Despite ongoing challenges, Egbochie stressed that real estate firms like ATCO Homes are working closely with key stakeholders to ensure that the federal and state governments’ goals of providing affordable housing and legitimate investment opportunities are realized.
Addressing Recent Controversies
In response to a recent land dispute involving the Daramola family, Egbochie expressed his concern over what he described as a smear campaign aimed at tarnishing the company’s reputation. “It is heartbreaking that the family resorted to spreading false claims and accusations on platforms without proper oversight,” he said.
He added that all relevant documents related to the 2015 land purchase and original coordinates have been submitted to the appropriate authorities for further action. Egbochie urged the media to verify claims before publishing news articles that could harm the image of businesses contributing to the government’s growth agenda.
A Vision for the Future
Looking ahead, ATCO Homes remains focused on delivering quality housing solutions that align with national development goals. The company continues to invest in innovative projects that meet the needs of an urbanizing population while maintaining high standards of transparency and accountability.
With a strong foundation built on trust and collaboration, ATCO Homes is well-positioned to play a significant role in shaping Nigeria’s real estate future.
