The Aftermath of the Manhyia Palace Ruling
The recent events at Manhyia Palace have sparked widespread discussions, particularly following the ruling that postponed the funeral of the late musician and mandated a second autopsy. This decision has been met with mixed reactions, especially from Daddy Lumba’s grandmother, who has taken to social media to express her views.
In a viral video, she criticized Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, labeling him as powerless and making it clear that Odo Broni could never be recognized as a wife. Her comments have stirred up significant online activity, with many users sharing and discussing her statements.
A Victory for Ernestina Fosuh
On November 10, 2025, a meeting at Manhyia Palace marked a turning point in the ongoing conflict between Ernestina Fosuh and Lumba’s family head. The subchiefs of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, including the Sumankwahene, the Dadiesoabahene, and his linguist, Baffour Kantankrakyie, played a crucial role in mediating the dispute.
Ernestina Fosuh, also known as Akosua Brimpongmaa, took the initiative to bring the family head, Kofi Owusu, before the panel. She accused him of sidelining her from the preparations for her brother’s funeral by invoking Otumfuo’s greath oath. Her demands included the postponement of Daddy Lumba’s funeral from December 6, an autopsy to determine the cause of death, and the dissolution of the funeral committee formed by Abusuapanin.
At the meeting, the chiefs granted all of Ernestina Fosuh’s requests, leading to a celebratory atmosphere among her supporters. The outcome was seen as a significant victory for her and her team.
Grandmother’s Strong Statements
Following the meeting, Daddy Lumba’s grandmother expressed her satisfaction with the verdict. In a video shared on Instagram, she appeared in a jubilant mood, addressing the audience with strong words against Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu and Odo Broni.
She declared that Abusuapanin no longer holds any power and emphasized that Akosua Serwaa is the only wife Daddy Lumba married. “If you pick something off the floor and the owner comes back for it, what can you say? He has given birth with Odo Broni and we would accept the children, but she can never be a wife, she’s a mistress,” she said.
Her comments highlighted the deep-seated beliefs within the family about marital status and lineage. She added that Akosua Serwaa solidified her position as a wife by organizing the burial of Daddy Lumba’s mother when she passed away. She also expressed her expectation that Akosua Serwaa would perform the same duty for her when she passes away.
“She should relax, we would fight for her. She is the only widow, we completely support her. I don’t know Odo Broni anywhere, she cannot be a widow!” she concluded.
