Telecel Unites Nationally in Fitness Fusion for Care & Well-being Month

Telecel Ghana’s ‘Fusion’ Event Celebrates Wellness and Teamwork

Telecel Ghana recently concluded its annual ‘Care & Well-being Month’ with the highly anticipated ‘Fusion’ fitness and wellness competition. This event, now in its tenth year, has become a cornerstone of the company’s commitment to promoting physical health, teamwork, and employee morale.

The ‘Fusion’ competition brought together nine internal departments for an engaging display of fitness, camaraderie, and friendly rivalry. While the main event was held at the Burma Camp Sports Complex in Accra, employees from different regions across the country participated in similar activities at their local venues, ensuring a nationwide celebration of wellness.

A Variety of Activities for All

Participants engaged in a wide range of sports and challenges, including the traditional lime-and-spoon race, volleyball, the tug of peace, weightlifting, and the exciting 100m and 400m relays. The energy and enthusiasm among the teams were evident throughout the day, highlighting the fun and competitive spirit that ‘Fusion’ brings to the workplace.

This year’s competition culminated in an inter-departmental showdown, where the ‘Sales and Distribution’ team emerged as the overall winners. The ‘Commercial Operations’ team secured second place, while the ‘Technology’ team took third. These results underscored the dedication and effort put in by each department to excel in the various events.

Health-Focused Activities During Well-Being Month

Throughout the month, employees had the opportunity to participate in a variety of health-focused initiatives. These included breast cancer screenings, webinars on cervical and prostate cancer awareness, and the ‘move more challenge,’ which encouraged staff to incorporate regular physical activity into their daily routines. These activities reflected Telecel Ghana’s broader mission to support the holistic well-being of its workforce.

Leadership Emphasizes the Importance of Well-Being

At the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Telecel Ghana, Ing. Patricia Obo-Nai, highlighted the company’s commitment to fostering a culture that values both performance and personal well-being. She stated, “At Telecel Ghana, we believe that success goes beyond setting performance targets; it starts with caring for our people. The growth of our business is deeply connected to the overall well-being of our employees. That’s why every October, during ‘Care Month,’ we not only focus on delivering exceptional service to our customers but also champion physical, emotional, and financial wellness for our teams.”

Regional Celebrations Unite Employees Nationwide

The celebrations extended beyond the main event in Accra, with regional gatherings taking place in several locations across the country. In the Ashanti Region, employees gathered at the Adum Exchange, while others met at Obour Tabiri Site in the Eastern Region, Ho RS Yard in the Volta Region, and Monkey Hill in Takoradi for the Western and Central Regions. Additional events were held at the Postal Yard in the Bono/Ahafo Regions, Dreams Fitness Centre in the Northern Region, Ramzy Park in the Upper East Region, and the Wa Tennis Court in the Upper West Region.

A Cultural Commitment to Wellness

The Human Resource Director at Telecel Ghana, Rachael Appenteng, emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. She said, “Well-being month is a powerful reminder that when we take care of ourselves, we show up stronger for our work, our families, and each other. Through signature initiatives like Fusion, we promote physical activity, sharpen focus, and create space for employees to recharge.”

She added, “Over the years, Fusion has grown beyond an event; it’s part of our culture. It unites us, energises us, and reinforces a core belief: our well-being is the foundation of our success.” Ms. Appenteng noted that ‘Fusion’ continues to be one of the most anticipated events of the year, bringing together employees from across the country to celebrate wellness and unity.

A Lasting Impact on Workplace Culture

With over ten years of promoting fitness, teamwork, and well-being through ‘Fusion,’ Telecel Ghana continues to demonstrate its commitment to encouraging a workplace culture where health, happiness, and productivity thrive.
