Sri Lanka Hosts Inaugural All Island Inter Schools Cultural Competition 2025
Sri Lanka recently witnessed the launch of the All Island Inter Schools Cultural Competition 2025, an event organized by the Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education under the Muslim Schools Development Branch. The ceremony took place at the Zahira College Ghaffoor Hall in Colombo, marking a significant milestone in the country’s educational calendar.
The event began with a warm welcome speech delivered by Major N.T. Nasumutheen, who serves as the Director of Education for the Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education (Muslim Schools Development Branch). His address set the tone for the day, emphasizing the importance of cultural exchange and the role of education in fostering unity among students across the island.
P.R. Kariyawasam, the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education, was present as the Chief Guest. His presence underscored the government’s commitment to supporting cultural initiatives that promote national cohesion and student development.
The opening program featured a vibrant welcome dance performed by students from Muslim Ladies College, showcasing their artistic talents and enthusiasm. Additionally, the launching theme song of the All Island Inter School Muslim Cultural Competition was presented by students from Zahira College and Muslim Ladies College. This collaborative performance highlighted the spirit of teamwork and cultural pride.
A large number of students from schools across Sri Lanka participated in various competitions, demonstrating their skills in music, dance, drama, and other cultural activities. The event provided a platform for young talent to shine and for schools to engage in friendly competition.
The chief guest, P.R. Kariyawasam, and Zahira College Principal Trizviiy Marikkar addressed the gathering, offering words of encouragement and support to the participants. Their speeches emphasized the value of cultural education and the need to nurture creativity and expression among students.
M.F.K. Nissa, the Senior Assistant Secretary of the Administration and Land Division of the Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education, proposed the vote of thanks, bringing the formal proceedings to a close.
The event was attended by principals of schools, teachers, students, and senior officials from the Ministry of Education. Their presence reflected the widespread interest and support for the initiative, which aims to promote cultural awareness and appreciation among the youth.
