Escalating Violence in Darfur: Women and Children Suffer as Fleeing Populations Grow
On November 7, 2025, reports emerged detailing the harrowing experiences of displaced individuals in Darfur, particularly highlighting the vulnerability of women and children. According to a spokesperson for the General Coordination for Displaced Persons and Refugee Camps in Darfur, more than 150 women were subjected to rape and sexual harassment during their journey from El Fasher to the Tawila area, located 60 kilometers west of the North Darfur capital.
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have been actively pursuing those fleeing El Fasher along the roads, capturing some of them in the Gurney area. This has left thousands of stranded people, including many children who have been separated from their families, trapped in a dire situation.
